Union Home Minister Amit Shah's meeting with the Manipur cabinet late last evening has led to five key decisions, which will be implemented across the state immediately as part of the peace process, sources said. The decisions are expected help restore normalcy in the state, where curfews have been in place since May 3 and internet has been suspended. The central government has denied any lapses behind the deaths of six cheetahs - including three cubs - within two months at the Kuno National Park (KNP) in Madhya Pradesh. "There is no lapse behind any of the cheetah deaths. Even in the case of the deaths of the three cheetah cubs, global wildlife literature clearly mentions 90% per cent infant mortality among cheetahs," said an official. "We haven't done any trials with any of the cheetahs trans-located to KNP from the two African nations. Cheetahs live in a coalition, so even the mating of a female cheetah with a male coalition wasn't done as any trial. It was done based on documented evidence and following clearance from African experts," said CP Goyal, director general of forests. A woman has alleged that she has been sexually assaulted at the Uttar Pradesh Bhavan, the state guest house in the heart of Delhi. After a case was filed by the Delhi Police, several officials have been suspended and a room where the incident allegedly took place, has been sealed, sources said. The accused, Rajyavardhan Singh Parmar, is the national president of an organisation called Maharana Pratap Sena, sources said. Sources said the man came to UP Bhavan with the woman on May 26 around 12.15 pm. He was allotted a room and left the place at 1.50. The woman later lodged a complaint at the Chanakyapuri police station, alleging that she was sexually exploited by Rajyavardhan Singh Parmar. A 26-year-old British tourist died after he was reportedly hit by lightning while paddleboarding in Greece, as per Guardian.   The unnamed man was in the sea during a thunderstorm in Agia Agathi, Rhodes, as his girlfriend filmed him from the beach, according to local media. Greek newspaper  Rodiaki  reported that lightning struck the water near the man shortly before 1.30 pm local time on Tuesday, causing him to fall into the water injured. Soon after the incident, emergency services dashed to the scene, and the man was taken to the shore. Rescuers frantically tried to save his life, following which medics took him to a local hospital before he was declared dead. Though the Port Authority of Rhodes confirmed the man's age and that he was a British national, they gave no further information. Eight people died after a bus coming from Amritsar skidded off a bridge and fell into a deep gorge in Jammu and Kashmir, police said today. Another 20 passengers were injured and taken to the hospital. The incident occurred on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway, near Jajjar Kotli area, about 15 km from its destination Katra in Reasi district. The bus was carrying pilgrims to Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Katra, reported news agency PTI. "Eight people have fatal casualties and 20 others are injured. Rescue operation is on," Senior Superintendent of Police Chandan Kohli told news agency PTI. A wildfire in the eastern Canadian city of Halifax led to mandatory evacuation orders for thousands of homes, with officials saying residents are not allowed to return until advised by municipal authorities. Two people were killed and three others were injured after a massive thunderstorm struck Madhya Pradesh's Ujjain district. In the Mahakal Lok Temple corridor, which was unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in October 2022, six out of the seven Saptrishi statues have been displaced and two damaged. No one was injured due to the displacement of the six statues from their pedestals at the temple corridor. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan spoke to the Ujjain collector and divisional commissioner to look into the matter. Some 50 trees and many electric poles were uprooted. There are 155 idols in Mahakal Lok. The damaged statues will be repaired by the contractor. One person died in Ujjain city after a tree fell on him. A 15-year-old died after she allegedly fell from the terrace of a private school in Ayodhya on Friday, said police. The father, however, has claimed that her daughter was gang-raped before being thrown off the terrace. The police have filed a case against the school principal and two staff members, one being the sports teacher. The Class 10 student was called in by the principal at 8:30 am despite there being no classes, alleged the girl's father. "I was informed by the principal around 9:50 am that my child suffered injuries after falling from a swing," said the father. A 19-year-old woman tragically died in a house fire in US' Wisconsin just hours before she was set to walk down the aisle, the Independent reported. Paige Ruddy was asleep on the second story of a Reedsburg home when it became engulfed in flames on May 23 around 4 am. Senior IAS officer and special secretary in the Delhi government, Kinny Singh, has accused Services Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj of "coercive behaviour" and requested security for herself. The ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) termed Singh's allegations as "completely false" and claimed that the officers were being "forced" to make complaints against the ministers of its government. An Indian national has been sentenced to 30 months in jail for allegedly making illegal payments of over SGD 5.1 million from a construction company where he worked to firms linked to him. Hussain Naina Mohamed (47) on Thursday pleaded guilty to nine counts of cheating involving more than SGD 2.5 million and one count of moving a portion of his ill-gotten gains out of Singapore. Jefferson Machado, a Brazilian actor who has been missing for several months, was discovered dead in a wooden box outside of a house in Rio de Janeiro, as per a report by the New York Post . His family friend Cintia Hilsendeger posted a message on the actor's Instagram page confirming his death. "It is with great sadness we report that Jeff was found on 05/22/2023 lifeless," she wrote.
